The Governing Body of the Town of Edgewood consists of five Commissioners who are elected to four-year terms by the citizens of Edgewood in a non-partisan, at-large election. The Commission, in accordance with state statute, selects from among themselves a Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem to fulfill honorary and statutorily required roles. The Governing Body holds Executive, Legislative, and Quasi-Judicial powers for the Town of Edgewood.
The Town Commission also appoints members of the community to serve at the pleasure of the Commission for statutory positions (Planning & Zoning Commission and Lodgers Tax Board) and advisory boards for: Animal Welfare, Economic Development, Library, and Parks & Recreation. From time to time, the Commission may also create ad hoc committees for special projects or events.
