A functional wastewater system is critical to economic development for the Edgewood community. Edgewood's Wastewater Department is responsible for the daily operations of the town's wastewater treatment plant. Operations include effective and responsible water use, treatment, and disposal. The wastewater treatment plant was originally designed to serve the commercial zones within Edgewood, largely along NM 333 and NM 344. Additions to the sewer system have included limited extension that may be able to accept residential flow.
