Youth Events for Summer! - 2003
The Town of Edgewood Parks & Recreation is proud to offer the YES! summer
program again this year. Separate programs are available for Kids and Teens (see
below). Last summer’s YES! program was very successful with scores of 9+ from
parents and kids.
Registration events will be held at Edgewood-area schools in late April, or
parents can pick up registration forms in the Edgewood Town offices (off Rt. 66,
behind Tastee Freez in Edgewood). Registration is available online with MC/Visa.
All registrations are first come, first served due to space limitations. YES! is
open to residents of Edgewood and Southern Santa Fe County.
Kids Program - for children ages 5-12 (5 year olds
must be entering kindergarten in August)
The six-week program runs Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm,
June 18 - July 25. Activities include arts, science, cooking, sports, and more
in a day camp format. Weekly field trips will include local sites as well as
some trips to Albuquerque destinations.
Fees are very reasonable, each 3-day session is just $15/child and includes
snacks and field trips or register for a day series (ie: 6 Tuesdays) for
$30/child. The full six-week program costs $80/child. A limited number of
“camperships” are available for families with financial need.

Teen Programs - for teens ages 13-17 (must be
entering 7th grade and up)
Teen Excursions
Join YES! summer program field trips to Albuquerque destinations (Art in
Edgewood, movies, bowling, Winrock Mall, Aquarium/Botanic Garden, Cuisine in
Edgewood, Karaoke Crazy in Edgewood). Trips include transportation, admission
and lunch. $7.50/trip or all 7 trips for $45.

Summer Melodrama
Talented local teens will be cast in Edgewood’s second annual summer melodrama
production. This summer's production, Tyrant of the Turquoise Trail or The
Peccadilloes of the Pan Pilferers, will be directed by veteran drama coach and
educator Jo White. There will be a cast or crew part for everyone who wants to
participate. Approximately 10 rehearsals will be held beginning mid-July through
August, with public performances throughout Labor Day weekend. The cast and crew
will attend a professional Melodrama performance in Madrid. $20/teen, register
at audition (date TBD).
