I was first elected to the governing body of Edgewood when the town was incorporated in 1999. Since then, except for a two year period, I have continued to serve the citizens of Edgewood as one of their councilors. Believing members of the governing body should initiate valuable and appropriate projects, I initiated and participated in helping to establish a not for profit health care facility within the corporate limits of Edgewood. The establishment of the health center was completed with the help of many area stakeholders serving on various committees. The Mountain & Valley First Choice Family Health Care facility (FCFHC) was a result of this effort. The present clinic now operates to capacity and the town along with the FCFCH parent organization have started work to establish an expanded clinic which will continue to offer primary medical and dental care along with counseling for citizens with mental health issues. I have served on the Board of Directors for FCFHC since 2003 as a consuming member and plan to continue to serve if requested to do so. I presently serve as Edgewood's representative on the North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) which provides bus transportation from Edgewood to Santa Fe and return. Very soon, the service will be expanded to a three time per day route with an added mid-day route. I am honored to work with the rest of the governing body, town staff and community volunteers, as well as other governmental agencies, to provide added services or continued expansion of existing services.
